Duxbury Youth Cheer

Practices are held in the Steele Building.

Games and Competitions are local. Dates and locations will be announced.

Duxbury Youth Cheer participates in the OCYCA League. The 2025 team breakdown is as follows:

Mighty Mites: 1st grade

Mighty Mites: 2nd grade

Mites Green: 3rd & 4th grade

Mites Silver: 3rd & 4th grade

Peewees: 5th grade

Peewees: 6th grade

Midgets: 7th & 8th grade

*Team sizes are capped!

Uniforms are provided by the program and need to be returned washed by the end of the season.

Teams practice at the Steele Building and/or the DuxPlex 3x weekly, starting in August and ending just before Thanksgiving. New this year: A required weekly tumbling/choreo session with Alyson Rotundo will supplement team practices. This is included as part of your tuition. The weekly tumbling/choreo class requirement does NOT apply to the Mighty Mites team! In other words, your week will look like this:

Mighty Mites**:

1 practice + 1 game and/or competition

Mites and up**:

2 practices + 1 tumbling/choreo + 1 game and/or competition

**Coaches reserve the right to add practices as we near competition season!

RED ZONE PRACTICES:

New this year! The "red zone" is any week leading up to a competition. If your athlete is absent during this time, they will not be allowed to compete that weekend.

8 football games + playoffs

4 local, all day competitions:

1. October 25 (Spirit Spooktacular)
2. November 1 (ECSD)
3. November 15 (Platinum)
4. November 22 (OCYCA)

• Practice tank and sideline bows. The cost for these items is approximately $30 per athlete. 
• Sideline Cheer jackets are offered for purchase to help keep athletes warm and dry on the sidelines when the temps drop. The cost is approximately $60, which includes custom embroidery. Athletes are strongly encouraged to purchase a jacket.
• Competition bow/scrunchie/cuff may be purchased at the coach's discretion (Approximate cost $10-$20)

Families are required to volunteer for at least 2 hours. You can "buy out" your volunteer hours if you wish. Remember that volunteers are essential to keeping our program running!

6-7 Midgets Uniform Fitting and Tumble Level

7-8:30 Midgets Stunt Clinic with Alyson

Week of August 4th:

• Choreography sessions at DMS GYM
• Sideline camp (1 evening for each team)

Weekly practice will begin in August!

Competition season begins late October and runs through Thanksgiving
